Salary: $130k - $200k

SEG is seeking enthusiastic candidates to be part of our threat missile modeling and simulation team. This position supports SEG’s Aerospace Branch which develops trajectory models and representations of adversary missile systems.

We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Engineer to support advanced modeling, simulation, and analysis of aerospace and missile systems. The successful candidate will apply expertise in vehicle dynamics, guidance and control, trajectory analysis, and numerical methods to develop and assess high-fidelity models of advanced and emerging systems.

This position requires a strong combination of aerospace engineering fundamentals, analytical problem solving, and scientific software development. The engineer will work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams to develop new modeling and analysis capabilities, assess system performance, and provide technical expertise in support of government customers.

Salary and designation of mid- or senior-level is commensurate with experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• Candidates must be US citizens with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD TS/SCI clearance.
• Candidates must possess a Master of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• Candidates must possess at least 4 years of work experience (or 2 years with a PhD).
• Significant professional experience in aerospace modeling, simulation, analysis, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of aerospace vehicle dynamics and trajectory analysis.
• Experience developing physics-based numerical models or engineering simulations.
• Experience with scientific or engineering software development using Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar languages.
• Strong analytical and mathematical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently investigate complex technical problems and develop new analysis methods or software solutions.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and results to technical customers and engineering teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS 

• Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• Experience modeling missile, hypersonic, launch vehicle, spacecraft, or other advanced aerospace systems.
• Experience developing or analyzing high-fidelity 6DOF simulations.
• Experience with guidance, navigation, and control systems, including autopilot or inertial navigation system modeling.
• Experience with trajectory optimization, parameter estimation, or system identification.
• Experience with uncertainty quantification, Bayesian methods, Monte Carlo analysis, or statistical modeling.
• Experience developing new modeling or analysis methodologies in an R&D environment.
• Experience supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), Department of Defense, or similar government agencies.
• Experience providing technical leadership or subject-matter expertise for aerospace modeling and simulation efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, integrate, verify, and analyze high-fidelity models and simulations of aerospace and missile systems.
• Perform trajectory modeling and analysis, including 3DOF and 6DOF vehicle simulations.
• Develop and apply methods for trajectory estimation, optimization, and prediction.
• Perform modeling and analysis of vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, guidance, navigation, and control systems.
• Develop analytical and numerical methods to characterize the performance and behavior of advanced and emerging aerospace systems.
• Develop software tools to support engineering analysis, modeling and simulation, data analysis, and visualization.
• Apply statistical and probabilistic methods, including Monte Carlo analysis and uncertainty quantification, to characterize model and system performance.
• Analyze test, simulation, and observational data to estimate vehicle characteristics and assess candidate system configurations.
• Support development, verification, validation, and performance assessment of physics-based models and simulations.
• Conduct research into advanced modeling and analysis techniques and translate research results into practical engineering tools.
• Provide technical expertise and recommendations to government customers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Document technical approaches, analysis methods, software capabilities, and results and communicate findings through technical briefings and reports.
