Job Title: Maintenance Technician – (Multicraft)

Job Description

This Multicraft Maintenance Technician role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment in a manufacturing environment. You will perform both mechanical and electrical diagnostics, carry out preventive maintenance tasks, and help ensure that equipment runs safely and efficiently across the facility.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair production equipment to maintain safe and reliable operation.
• Diagnose basic mechanical issues, including problems with gears, bearings, pumps, and related components.
• Perform more in-depth mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, depending on skill level.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on machinery to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Change out filters and fluids on equipment as part of routine maintenance procedures.
• Identify and correctly use hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance equipment required for repairs.
• Support PLC-controlled equipment by assisting with PLC-related troubleshooting as needed.
• Document maintenance activities and communicate equipment status to appropriate team members.
• Follow all safety procedures while working on mechanical and electrical systems.
• Lift, move, and position parts and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more as required by maintenance tasks.

Essential Skills

• Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical repair, including working on gears, bearings, and pumps.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance tasks on production equipment.
• Fundamental electrical troubleshooting skills for equipment repair and maintenance.
• Ability to assist with PLC troubleshooting and work around PLC-controlled systems.
• Capability to change filters and fluids on equipment safely and correctly.
• Skill in identifying and properly using tools required for mechanical and electrical work.
• Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform maintenance tasks that may require standing, bending, and moving equipment.
• Schooling in maintenance plus at least 6+ months of maintenance experience, or 2–3+ years of maintenance experience without formal schooling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment; food manufacturing experience is a plus but not required.
• Familiarity with both mechanical and electrical maintenance practices.
• Comfort working around PLC-controlled equipment and understanding basic PLC functions.
• Attention to detail in following maintenance procedures and safety guidelines.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with production and maintenance teams.
• Willingness to work 2nd shift and adapt to a multi-shift operation.

Work Environment

The environment involves working around production equipment and PLC-controlled systems. The facility operates on multiple shifts, with typical hours of 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. for 1st shift, 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. for 2nd shift, and 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. for 3rd shift. Due to the nature of the products, employees must follow specific clothing and washing guidelines to prevent cross-contamination and maintain product integrity.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of HORN LAKE, MS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
